I no longer want to work as a judge in the Supreme Court
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, the senior judge of the Supreme Court, who was anticipated to assume the role of Chief Justice of Pakistan in October 2024, has tendered his written resignation to the President of the country, Dr. Arif Alvi.
In specific terms, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan stepped down from his position on the evening of Thursday, December 11. It is reported that he has formally communicated his resignation in writing to President Dr. Arif Alvi.
On the same day, during the proceedings of the Supreme Judicial Council concerning the allegations against Justice Mazhar Naqvi, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan chose not to participate as a member. Subsequent to this development, his official resignation has now been disclosed.
The meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, presided over by Justice Faez Isa, included Chief Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, and the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court as members. However, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan did not partake as a member in the aforementioned meeting.
