Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi sent his resignation to the President Dr. Arif Alvi
Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi has resigned from his position as a judge of the Supreme Court. According to media reports, Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi has submitted his resignation from the judiciary. In this regard, he forwarded his resignation to the President of the country, Dr. Arif Alvi, stating that it was an honor for him to have served in the Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court. However, now it has become impossible for him to continue working in accordance with his oath of office.
It has been reported that Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi has denied the allegations against himself. In response to the notices issued by the Supreme Judicial Council regarding the allegations, Justice Naqvi requested the council to dismiss the complaints and end the investigation. In his response, he stated that the council cannot take action on someone's complaint against a judge, and according to the rules issued by the Supreme Judicial Council, the informant has no role in the proceedings. He mentioned that the orders issued by the Supreme Judicial Council are tantamount to a violation of the rules, as the informant has no role in providing information for any action.
In his response, Justice Mazhar Ali Akbar Naqvi stated that he had a meeting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on February 21 at the Pakistan Bar. It was on the very day of the meeting with Shahbaz Sharif that the Pakistan Bar Council decided to file a complaint. He argued that issuing an order to summon witnesses before submitting a response to the notice from the Supreme Judicial Council is against the law. He vehemently refuted the allegation that anyone can easily approach him, asserting that such claims are entirely false. Additionally, he emphasized that he neither committed an unauthorized use of authority nor engaged in misconduct.
It has been disclosed that Justice Naqvi also raised objections to the appointment of the Attorney General as the prosecutor. He pointed out that there is a complainant within the Council, and the Attorney General serves as the chairman of the complainant, i.e., the Pakistan Bar Council. Justice Naqvi asserted that the complaints filed with the Bar Councils have been influenced by political motives and the PTI government. Regarding the case of Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, he clarified that it couldn't be adjudicated before him, deeming it an administrative matter with no relief granted in the case.
Furthermore, in his response, Justice Naqvi mentioned that the principles established in the case of Justice Faez Isa state that the Judicial Council cannot take action on matters related to children. He clarified that the payment for the plot on Park Road, Islamabad, was made from his salary account, emphasizing that there is no connection whatsoever with Al-Ayyed Plaza Gajra Nawala.
